INSIDE DRIVE PLAYER DIARY WITH WRCA'S TYRELL MARA

What's up Basketball World! It's been a long summer! I think i took as many plane rides this last month than i have my whole life. This summer i decided to take my game down to an AAU team in San Diego called High Five America. My summer started off in Atlanta Georgia for the Adidas All American camp. It was something else, we would be stretching in the gym and in would walk Bobby Knight, George Karl, and Coach K, sit down and start casually talking. There was some amazing talent there, i was playing with guys that are going to be in the League anywhere from next year to 4 years from now. Our team ended up losing to the #1 Adidas team in the nation in the Adidas Super 64 tournament in Vegas. I remember big games like that there would be anywhere from 50 to 200 scouts watching in the stands. The thing you gotta keep in mind is that those guys don't want to see players drop 30 points take 28 shots and let their man score on them constantly. Their looking for the guys doing the little things, boxing out, taking charges, closing out with their hands up, talking, because they know all those little things ends up winning games...

Now that all of my traveling is over I'm just enjoying having some time to myself, I'm trying to shoot 700 shots a day and lift 4 times a week, another thing that i have just learned is really good to staying in shape and building muscle endurance is swimming. I started my own business last year called Matadore Communications, make like sport highlight videos and promotional video's for companies, so i have gotten real busy with that, If anyone ever needs a highlights video for whatever purposes shout me a holler.

That's about it for now, I will get at you guys next issue, until then i gotta thank my boys Chad and Pash, their doing a big thing to West Coast Basketball, watch in five years from now where these pioneers have taken us.

Yours in hoops

God Bless

Ty

Tyrell Mara is Inside DRIVE's 2004-2005 Pre-Season Mr .Basketball in British Columbia (look for full list of Pre-Season All-Stars soon) He is a 6'5" man-child who has already been part of the B.C. hoops scene for years. Look for him to do a little bit of everything for WRCA this season as they contend for the AAA Provincial Championship. Tyrell is a floor leader who can not only score, but is also a gifted passer and rebounder. He is a genuine student of the game who is always looking for ways to improve. He has had a lot of interest from both sides of the border, with many Division I schools and hometown University of British Columbia (UBC) vying for his services. Look for Tyrell's player diary all season on Inside DRIVE and check out his highlights on the DRIVE Media page.
