EARL MARRIOTT’S DYNAMIC SENIOR GUARD/FORWARD GREG ELLIOT
Greg is a member of the Earl Marriott Senior boy’s basketball team and is our featured New Balance Athlete of the Month. Greg is currently attending DRIVE personal workouts where he works extremely hard with his fellow campers 2 hours a night to develop his game. Greg recently earned 1 st team all-star recognition at the Surrey RCMP tournament for his outstanding play. For his dedication and commitment in improving his game, we would like to salute Greg and wish him the best of luck through out his senior season.
DRIVE recently had a chance to sit down and ask the superstar guard his thoughts of DRIVE and how it has helped his game.
DRIVE: Why did you choose DRIVE? What do you think of DRIVE?
GE: I chose DRIVE because I knew the coaches involved and the experience they had. I knew this would be good to be a part of but I never believed how much I needed it and how much I improved from it. In my mind, this is the best program in BC.
DRIVE: Who's been the most influential person on your basketball career?
GE: I have 2 people that have influenced me during my basketball career. First off, my big brother Mike. He introduced me to the game when I was really young. Through him, I learned the fundamentals of the game and the work it took it to be a good player. I know if he wasn't in my life, I wouldn't have played basketball. Secondly, Coach Chad Clifford. I wouldn't be where I am today without that guy. He has believed in me since I first met him. I went from barely playing on my grade 9 basketball team, to being selected onto the Under 16 B.C. team in like a year and a half. He has taught me so much and I owe him a lot.
Greg is a 6’3’’ guard/forward for the Earl Marriott Mariners. During this past summer Greg played AAU basketball for a Seattle based club and is currently averaging 24.2 ppg, 9.1 rbs, 7.9 asts, 3.7 stls, and 2.3 blks during his senior season. Greg has earned all-star awards in the Surrey RCMP tournament and the Maui High Classic. Most Recently Greg won the MVP at the Seaqum tournament.
"Greg Elliot is one of the top players in BC in my opinion but that isn't what impresses me or the other coaches about him. This kid works hard every single time he steps on the court and his positive attitude rubs off on everyone. Greg is a joy to be around, he is going to be sucussful at whatever he does in life."
Chad Clifford, DRIVE Head Coach

"Greg Elliot is special for many reasons, not just basketball. He is a great leader and extremely motivated competitor who truly cares about his teammates and fellow campers. Having Greg as a Senior Leader at DRIVE has been unbelievable because he is not only one of the most talented guys, he also works the hardest. It makes it a lot easier to Coach when one of your best guy's is also the hardest working."
Pasha Bains, DRIVE Head Coach
