GRADE 9 SENSATIONS: SPENCER DORE AND GURJOTE JHAJ
U-15 Provincial team members Gurjote Jhaj and Spencer Dore, who recently completed a session of DRIVE University (Spring 2005), share the honor of NEW BALANCE Athlete of the month.
Gurjote Jhaj is a rising sophmore from McNair High School in Richmond B.C. The 6'3 inch Jhaj is a point guard who sees the floor very well. The left handed Jhaj is a great slasher/scorer who has the ability to make passes in the fast break and at the end of his dribble. Gurjote has a great work ethic which will allow him to continue to improve over the summer with the Provincial team.
"Gurjote continues to improve on a daily basis. Making the Provincial team is a great accomplishment and will no doubt serve him very well in the future. Getting quality coaching all summer and playing in competitive situations will not only help his understanding of the game, but will also get him more accustomed to different styles of play. Gurj has shown unbelievable work ethic at DRIVE, the coaches love being around him and watching him play." - DRIVE Head Coach Pasha Bains "Gurj definitely brings a 'smile' to the game. Being a tall point guard and left-handed makes him a treat to watch play. He has worked very hard this past year and deserves the chance to represent B.C. this summer. Having a guy like Gurj at DRIVE is indispensable because he is a great example to the young campers and pushes the older players to get better on a daily basis." DRIVE Head Coach Chad Clifford. |
Spencer Dore is a rising sophmore from Seaquam Secondary in Delta B.C. Spencer is a tremendous all-around athlete who has a great first step which allows him to penetrate the basket from his wing position. Spencer is a tireless worker, evidenced by his recent win of "Dungeon Master" at DRIVE University. Dore is also an excellent defender and all-around teammate who will do anything his team needs. Spencer continues to improve his ball handling and passing skills and a summer with the Provincial team will no doubt assist his improvement as an all-around basketball player.
"Spencer is just a treat to be around. He's constantly improving as a player and is always looking for ways to help out his fellow campers and teammates. The chance to represent B.C. this summer is a great accomplishment for Spencer who has put in a ton of work this past year." DRIVE Head Coach Chad Clifford.
"Spencer is an excellent all around athlete, and perhaps more importantly a great teammate. He is extremely competitive and wants to get better. Making the Provincial team is an amazing accomplishment for Spencer and a testament to his work ethic and overall ability as a basketball player." - DRIVE Head Coach Pasha Bains
DRIVE would like to congratulate Gurjote and Spencer for earning the chance to represent B.C. this summer. DRIVE would also like to wish them the best of luck this summer and their upcoming basketball seasons.
"It is truly rewarding to see Gurj and Spencer make the U-15 Provincial team. They have shown incredible work ethic and determination at all DRIVE events this past year. They are without a question members of my "All-Dungeon" team at DRIVE, they have worked to redefine their bodies and athleticism to a point where it has made a positive impact on their basketball games." DRIVE Strength and Conditioning Coach Isaac Payne.
For their efforts Gurjote and Spencer will recieve a special prize package from official DRIVE sponsor New Balance.
