New Balance Athlete of the Month: Kyle Grewal
Kyle Grewal is our New Balance Athlete of the Month. Kyle has helped lead the Enver Creek Cougars from a relatively unknown team to the #6 ranking in the province. The most noted wins came when the Cougars captured the highly competitive Leagle Beagle Tournament where they knocked off Centennial, Claremont and WRC on their way to winning the title. Kyle was named the tournaments Defensive MVP as well a 1st team all-star. He's also been named to the 1st all-star team at the Seaquam tourney, the Palm Springs Coke Classic, and most recently at the Surrey RCMP tourney. He also recently completed DRIVE University, where he spent 8 hours of his weekends working hard on his skills with his fellow campers. For his dedication and commitment in improving his game Kyle was awarded the Most Valuable Player at the University. We would like to congratulate Kyle for his accomplishments and wish him the best of luck for the remainder of his senior season.
DRIVE recently had a chance to sit down and ask the standout senior his thoughts of DRIVE University.
DRIVE: Why did you choose to attend DRIVE University?
KG: I choose to attend DRIVE because I had heard so many great things about the camp and the coaches who ran it. I also saw that all the coaches had played basketball at the university level or higher. Also, I’ve had the opportunity to watch some of the coach’s play before and I was very impressed. Watching them play made me want to step my game up to the next level which is why I choose to attend the camp.
DRIVE: What did you think of DRIVE?
KG: I don’t think, I know that this is the best camp I have ever attended, and I would recommend to anyone who is trying to step their game up or just to have fun. Also the coaches are very friendly and they make the camp fun for everyone. The camp is worth every penny, also they got some tight gear.
DRIVE: How did it help prepare you for your upcoming season?
KG: Drive helped me prepare for my upcoming season by teaching everything that I needed to know on and off the court. It helped me by giving me all the basic fundamentals of the game, it helped my ball-handling, shooting, passing, overall athleticism, and most importantly it gave me confidence on the court. Also it taught me that I must maintain a steady diet, and my marks in school.
DRIVE: What are your personal and team goals for this season?
KG: My personal goals for the season are to be the best player I can be and help my team out as much as I can. Our team goal is to play every game as hard as we can and try and win the District, Fraser, and Provincial championships.
DRIVE would like to wish Kyle and his Enver Creek teammates the best of luck this season.
