DRIVE Elite - Summer 2009

DRIVE Basketball is excited to announce the preliminary schedule and information for our 2009 Spring and Summer Elite teams for boys and girls ages 12-17. This Summer DRIVE will have Elite teams that will compete in local events as well as tournaments in Seattle and Las Vegas. DRIVE is looking forward to building upon last years success of our Elite program.

The objective of the Elite teams is to maximize the skill development of its players while also developing high quality teams that compete well locally, but also with the best teams in North America. DRIVE Elite players are all instructed on team concepts as well as team building. Players will take part in a varity of team events on and off the court. The aim is to provide the best training and competition possible. The selected players will receive individual training programs including individual basketball skill sessions, team practices, exhibition games, tournament play, elite level coaching and strength and conditioning sessions at the DRIVE Fitness Center (www.drivefitness.ca). The summer schedule for all teams will include:

DRIVE Elite Training Centre (Led by Pasha Bains, Chad Clifford)
Training sessions @ DRIVE Fitness (1 hour dryland fitness Led by DRIVE Elite Strength Coach Isaac Payne, 1 hour basketball skills led by Pasha Bains, Chad Clifford)

DRIVE Elite wrap-up Banquet

The DRIVE Select teams will be taught by elite level coaches and introduced to advanced training techniques. The focus is to increase the skill level, game knowledge, confidence, and overall fitness of all the players involved.

The DRIVE Elite Staff is comprised of a number of former or current University Student-Athletes. The staff has competed at a variety of levels within British Columbia and includes NCAA Division I players and National team members. The staff has extensive playing and coaching experience including professional, AAA Provincial and CIS National Championships.

This Elite Season DRIVE will also be having Recreational Teams for each age division. Players that are not selected to the Elite Training roster will have the opportunity to train at the regular DRIVE University as well as train at DRIVE Fitness throughout the Spring and Summer. The recreational teams will also get game competition in the form of playing other recreational teams from different organizations.
