Calvin Westbrook: 6’4’’ Guard (GP Vanier)
Calvin is an extremely aggressive player who hates to lose. Causes match-up problems against nearly any opponent he faces. He possesses a good first step for a big guard. Often will use his height to manipulate opponents, given the fact that he can pull-up into his jump shot at any point with little cushion from his defender. Not a prolific 3-point shooter, but certainly a highly accurate one. He will challenge bigger players in traffic with his size and athleticism.
Bol Kong 6 ’7’’ Guard Forward (St. Georges)
Could arguably be the best player in BC this year but that is yet to be determined. As athletic as they come, Bol has great leaping capabilities and is quick off of his feet for second and third efforts. He has good range on his jumper but it is his athletic ability that separates him from others. Will create certain match up problems with his extremely quick first step and nice touch around the rim.
Alex Murphy: 6’2 Point Guard (St. Georges)
Alex is a head smart point guard with the ability to make players around him better. He has is a pass first shoot second player who sees the floor extremely well. Has a good looking jump shot with the capability of making several in a row. He is a true leader on the floor.
Brent Malish: 6’6’’ Forward (Brookswood)
Brent is an athletic forward that has the ability to do a lot of different things on the basketball court. He has a variety of different moves in the post and can finish with both his left and right hands. He also can knock down the outside shot when left open. On the defensive side of the ball, Brent blocks and alters player’s shots. He is also a good rebounder who isn’t afraid to mix it up.
Ryan Murray: 5’10’’ Point Guard (Terry Fox)
Ryan is an extremely quick point guard with loads of experience. He has been playing senior ball for Terry Fox since he was in the 9th grade. He possesses a killer crossover keeping the ball low and tight to his body. Is a rhythm shooter and when he is feeling it he’s capable of making them in bunches.
Braydon Janzen: 6’4’’ Wing Forward (Claremont)
Braydon is an athletic small forward who plays the game the right way. He is a tough player who isn’t afraid to mix it up inside. He is good a penetrating to the basket and using his size to get to the rim and finish. Braydon is also a good rebounder on both ends of the floor. Has the ability to knock down open perimeter shots.
Paul Woodham: 6’7’’ Forward (Kitsilano)
Paul is best described as a beast on the basketball court. His game is similar to that of Elton Brands; he will block shots, rebound, and do the little things on the floor to help his team win. Paul is also a very good passer out of the post, being patient and passing out of the double team.
Gary Pelton: 6’9’’ Post (Pitt Meadows)
Gary is a strong post player with good size carving out a lot of space in the lane. He plays the game very patiently, not forcing shots but rather he lets the game come to him. He uses a variety of different moves to get his shot off in the post. Gary is good at getting position in the post both offensively and defensively and has good hands for a big man.
Ryan Hatch: 6’8’’ Forward (North Delta)
A starter for the North Delta Huskies last season as a grade 10, the 6'8" Hatch was a significant contributor for the U16 provincial team this past summer. Long, athletic, and with a soft touch around the hoop, Hatch can finish with power inside. Hatch has a solid jumper out to 17 ft. and can get to the rim on the bounce, making him dangerous with the ball anywhere inside the arc. He is one of the premier post players in grade 11 in BC.
Brian Stevanack: 6’6’’ Forward (Port Moody)
Brian does so many different things on the basketball court that helps his teams to win. He is an extremely competitive player that will sacrifice his body for the betterment of the team. Brian has good post up game coupled with a solid stroke from the outside.
