Since 2004

We were est. in 2004 by founders Pasha Bains & Chad Clifford, both former BC Hs AAA Mvps & Ncaa Div 1 Players. We started out as a small camp & now evolved into a year round Basketball Academy with our own Teams & Training Facilities. Since 2004, many Alumni moved on to College & University on Basketball Scholarships and many have become Basketball Coaches. Our Story

Chad Clifford & Pasha Bains were born and raised in White Rock & Richmond, British Columbia. While playing university basketball & working at local camps in Vancouver, both Chad & Pasha discovered a passion to teach & help young basketball players achieve their goals. After a few years of hard work starting their own small basketball camps, Chad & Pasha decided to join forces and establish "DRIVE Basketball" a one-of-a-kind basketball academy that combined all the positive aspects of training, competition & sport.

They wanted to have a successful, basketball academy that provided different platforms for young people to improve. The aim was to have DRIVE be an outstanding basketball program, a place where young players loved to play. DRIVE was founded in 2004 with the motto, "Pursue your Passion" DRIVE set out to offer its players an experience they wouldn't forget- quality basketball instruction, competitive teams & great basketball leagues that cater to all skill levels and ages. DRIVE quickly became a local success. Over the years, Chad & Pasha along with a growing staff have continued to run basketball programs throughout the Lower Mainland. In 2009 we opened up our very first year-long basketball training center in Richmond, BC. Our newest year-long facility has just opened in Langley, BC. DRIVE has exciting plans for several more locations in the near future.

The company continues to be led by Chad & Pasha with a commitment to quality, value and passion for excellence. They delight in seeing the improvement of players in the program and enjoy taking an active role in so many young players development. They continue to inspire by advocating hard work, emphasizing passion and giving support in pursuing dreams... just as they have done!

History
Drive Basketball was started in 2004 by Pasha Bains and Chad Clifford. Both Pasha and Chad have been fixtures on the B.C. basketball scene for many years. Both are former B.C. AAA MVP's having led their respected High Schools to Provincial Championships and attended Division I University's on full basketball scholarships. Not until 2003-2004 at Simon Fraser did the two become teammates where they again teamed at UBC during the Thunderbirds perfect regular season run in 2006. Pasha Bains & Chad Clifford
As a parallel to basketball, the two have been able to use their University degree programs in conjuction with Drive and their future careers in coaching. Pasha has an undergraduate degree from Simon Fraser in English/Psychology and is currently finishing an M.A. Degree and subsequent Ph.D in Sport Psychology/Coaching Science. His research coincides with his interests in teaching, Coaching and Counseling young athletes.

Chad has also been able to use his interests in Coaching and basketball in his program in Human Kinetics at UBC. He is currently completing a B.A. with coursework in Sports Psychology, Sport Management and Anatomy and Physical development.

During their University careers both Pasha and Chad developed a passion for teaching and mentoring young players in the game. The two ran parallel basketball programs in Richmond and White Rock while completing their Undergraduate degrees.

The Birth of DRIVE Basketball
In 2004, the two decided to combine their programs in Drive Basketball - a program aimed to develop athletes in more than just basketball. Since their first camp in September of 2004, which had 60 members attending, Drive has now expanded exponentially with over 1200 participants coming through the program. Both Pasha and Chad agree that basketball for them was a vehicle for 'life transformation,' they were able to establish character traits such as hard work, commitment and discipline which allowed them to suceed in areas that extended far beyond the court. The two have recieved full-scholarships all the while through University, travelled the world, played in Major Division I basketball, played Canadian University basketball and represented Canada in competitions abroad. Both of them acknowledge that a free education and the chance to meet different friends and teammates would not be possible without basketball.

The program continues to grow and operate with the mission of developing complete players and people. Lectures on nutrition, goal-setting, University placement and "Drive Player booklets" featuring lifeskills tools aid in developing complete 'Drive Players'.
Goals of DRIVE Basketball
Their objective is to enhance the quality of basketball in the area while providing youth an opportunity to receive high level coaching. This highly recommended program (testimonials) is attracting the top talent from around the lower mainland. In order to develop the program further, Drive is planning to implement more camps and clinics into other regions of the province. The coaches are extremely pleased with the success of the program and are enthusiastic about the future of DRIVE Basketball. These coaches are further motivated by the continued development of athletes who have come through their system and have carried what they have learned into their own schools and programs. The expansion of this program will not only see the betterment of many more young and aspiring athletes, but will also help improve the quality of basketball in British Columbia for the future.
