(Pictured: Tyrell Mara is Inside DRIVE's 2004-2005 Pre-Season Mr .Basketball in British Columbia (look for full list of Pre-Season All-Stars ) He is a 6'5" man-child who has already been part of the B.C. hoops scene for years. Look for him to do a little bit of everything for WRCA this season as they contend for the AAA Provincial Championship. He is a genuine student of the game who is always looking for ways to improve. He has recently commited to Portland State University for the 2005-2006 season.)

INSIDE DRIVE PLAYER DIARY WITH WRCA'S TYRELL MARA

It’s been a very enjoyable last few weeks here at WRCA. We finished off the second part of our season regaining the RCMP title thanks to an amazing performance by all of the starters, I love how everyone is contributing, Pete Morrison and Rob Fougner had outstanding tournaments and Adam Stewart went to work in the last game with fourteen third quarter points! Jeron Dillon's continued to steadily improve, he is the reason our team is at the level it’s at, he is beginning to truly understand the value of every possession and his leadership is growing day by day. We just had a couple big games against Kitsalno and MEI. They were both great games, and fortunately we got away with a couple W’s thanks to great role playing by everyone on the team. We have had a nice little break for the last ten days or so and it’s given our team a chance to go back to work in practice. The practices we have had in this off time have been some of the highlights of my year so far. The last four practices have been some of the most intense basketball of my life. Every player on the team brings a whole new level of competitiveness and intensity to practice and we have gotten to the point where we need to break up games and drills for a minute because it gets too intense to the point where both teams want to win so badly the pushing and shoving gets a little too extreme. A lot of testosterone!

This time off has given me some time to work on my individual game. I’m really focusing on being in a good flow in all of my shots, learning how to take tougher shots in rhythm with my body.

We have a couple more games including a huge game against MEI (@ MEI) this Saturday (February 5th) and then it is time for playoffs! This is what basketball is all about, you work so hard for eleven months of the year to get to the point where you have to win 14 games in a row to go from your first playoff game to provincial champions!

I will get back at you guys soon! If you get a chance thank your boys Chad and Pash for the things they are doing with the site, it seems almost every time I open it up there is something new on there! They deserve a world of respect!

Until then,
Yours in Hoops
God Bless

Ty
