"DRIVE is all about improving how you play the game. The coaches teach you things that actually work, moves that they themselves use, not just straight fundamentals like a lot of coaches teach. I've noticed an improvement in my game after just three weeks."

DRIVE Basketball Set to Hold Holidays Hoops Camp

PRESS RELEASE: November 15th, 2005

DRIVE Basketball is preparing to hold the Holidays Hoops Camp from Dec. 19th-21st at Vancouver College. Head Coaches, UBC teammates Pasha Bains, the 2004 CIS Player of the Year, and Chad Clifford, 1999 BC AAA MVP and U-17 Provincial Team assistant coach, hope to build on the recent success of DRIVE Basketball and camps. “We are ecstatic about how well DRIVE has started and hope to build on the success of our recent camps,” says Clifford. “We have made some great relationships with some talented young players. The support and feedback has been tremendous, we’re always looking for ways to improve our program and really make it applicable to young kids growing up playing basketball in B.C. Chad and I grew up in the same environment as our campers, so we definitely try to act as mentors and give the campers practical knowledge and skills that they can use to advance their own games on and off the court.” adds Bains.

The camp instruction will include fundamental training, skill development, strength and conditioning and lectures on University placement, time management and basketball nutrition. “We try to give the kids as much practical knowledge as possible, while still making it really enjoyable. We have many contests and games, give out loads of prizes, and also have a special section called the DRIVE Library where we show old clips of our own games in high school and have different programs and magazines that are basketball related. The more young kids know about the game, the more excited they are about playing and improving. We’ve seen a tremendous improvement in the kid’s who have been involved with DRIVE and pride ourselves in being unique in our teaching methods. We not only coach the kids, we also try to actively demonstrate the techniques we teach and involve ourselves in the actual game-play as much as possible.” says Bains.

The camp is open for Boys and Girls from Gr.3-12. The AM session ( 9-12pm ) is for Gr.3-7 while the PM session ( 1-4pm ) will be for Gr.8-12.

The cost for the three day camp is $85 and includes a DRIVE Basketball T-Shirt.
