“Jeron is a shifty guard that packs a lot of offensive punch. Jeron can beat you anywhere and anyhow. The threat of the long ball is there as many PG’s don’t have the complete package...Paired with Tyrell they form a dynamic duo of team leadership that is unwilling to accept mediocrity. ”

Scott Allen, Head Coach WRCA

“ Jeron is an unselfish point guard who knows where the ball should be at what time, we are great compliments to each other on the court because he always knows where to find me. Jeron always lets me relax, he is the kind of guy where no matter what situation he's in, on or off the court, he has complete composure and constantly brings a relaxing atmosphere that allows you to play your game.”

"SHOW 'N PROVE" - WRCA SENIOR POINT GUARD JERON DILLON

When you think of the WRCA you think of some of the top point guards that the program has produced over the last couple of years. Kyle Wilson and Donald Burton both ran the show for WRC and were both AAA provincial MVP’s their graduating years. Jeron Dillon is another one of those top PG’s, the difference is he’s flown underneath the radar because of all the attention his fellow teammate, superstar forward, Tyrell Mara has received. Head Coach Scott Allen sees the special talent that Jeron possess. “Jeron is an enjoyable point guard with big steps to fill with past PGS like Wilson, Burton and Thibault. Measuring the success of his year will come at the end as experience is limited but will is strong. I figure with his determination and desire he will be another piece of the history of WRCA's strong perimeter play. Jeron keeps the moment light on/off the court and makes coaching a pleasure.” He has a smooth stroke from the outside and he has a certain court savvy to him that is rare to see from a player his age.

Recently WRCA played against #1 Argyle in the final of the Leagle Beagle tournament and Jeron got to match up against one of BC’s top point guards, Sean Burke. Jeron more then held his own against BC’s best, he was named as a 1st team all-star at the tournament where his team beat #12 Sentinel and #4 New West before loosing a close game to #1 Argyle in the finals. Jeron is at his best when he is pushing the ball up in the open court looking to make something happen. All-Star forward Tyrell Mara loves playing with the silky smooth lefty, “ Jeron is a very versatile player, he can take it to the basket and finish over big men but at the same time he rarely misses an open shot. Jeron's ability to get up the court quickly and make decisions on the sprint makes him a deadly presence on the floor.” This deadly duo has helped lead the WRCA program to the #2 ranking in the province this year with only 1 loss to Canadian competition.

Jeron tries to model his game after crafty Canadian, Steve Nash. “He’s my favorite player because he is an unselfish guy that has great court vision which makes him deadly to stop and fun to watch.” Tyrell sees some of those qualities in Jeron as well. “ Jeron is an unselfish point guard who knows where the ball should be at what time, we are great compliments to each other on the court because he always knows where to find me. Jeron always lets me relax, he is the kind of guy where no matter what situation he's in, on or off the court, he has complete composure and constantly brings a relaxing atmosphere that allows you to play your game.” That sense of confidence that he installs in his teammates is what the great players do and is something that Coach Allen tries to implement into his players. “ Jeron is a shifty guard that packs a lot of offensive punch. Jeron can beat you anywhere and anyhow. The threat of the long ball is there as many PG’s don’t have the complete package. Jeron moves the ball very well down the floor and has learned the value of assist to turnover value. Jeron is daily learning how to run an intricate offense and making all those around him play above their ability. He has made incredible changes to his body in the off season for weight gain and through continuing this process he will be able to play at the next level. I see daily improvements in communication and willingness to play more physical for the betterment of the team.”

WRCA has built a program that has been one of the top fixture’s among the hoop scene for the last 6 years winning two AAA provincial championships in that time. Jeron is excited to play for a school with so much pride and tradition. “Playing for WRCA is something special because you know that you’re getting the best quality of the game, and you’re always around a winning atmosphere. Playing for Coach Allen has been a great experience for me because he teaches you so much about the game.  He just knows what it takes to win.” He says. “Playing with Tyrell has been great. He’s the best player in BC and he makes the game easy for me. He knows where everyone is going to be and gets the ball to them.  He makes everyone around him a better player.” Scott Allen can see what type of special player Jeron with his ability to be an extension of the coach on the floor. “ Paired with Tyrell they form a dynamic duo of team leadership that is unwilling to accept mediocrity. I admire his desire to stand up and speak his mind when he sees a wrong on or off the court. The bottom line is "the kid can play and wants to take that last shot. Fear doesn't run his life!"

DRIVE would like to wish Jeron and his WRCA teammates the best of luck as they continue their march towards the 2005 AAA Provincial Championships.
