“Mike was definitely our most improved player over the summer. He worked hard everyday at practice and his confidence grew more and more each day. Mike has always been a gifted athlete and he has a good feel for the game. During the summer he had some HUGE dunks that surprised everyone on the team. Once he found his role on the squad he really blossomed as our dark horse, doing all the little things that separated our team from being good to being great.”
- Chad Clifford, U-17 Assistant Coach

"I always tell any of the universities that he has the most room for improvement and will be an incredible CIS player or even southbound. Terrific explosiveness and above the rim finishes makes Mike a next level player."
Scott Allen, Head Coach U-17 provincial team .

"THE PROPHET"- MIKE HULL SENIOR FORWARD MT. DOUGLAS
The Mt. Douglas Rams are having one of their best seasons in recent history and thanks to the help the versatile forward Mike Hull they may have their best ever. Mike Hull spent the summer on the mainland playing for the U-17 provincial team working on his game daily with the best players in BC. “Hands down my favorite experience playing basketball would have to be this past summer when I played on the U-17 Provincial team. It was a great group of coaches with a great group of teammates. Collectively we worked extremely hard playing the game that we love.” Mike was relatively unknown on the local hoops scene until this past summer. Now, he is one of the premier players in BC.
Mike is a 6’6’’forward who can handle the basketball like a guard, finish inside with the big men, and shake his defender at will when he is in the open court. Calvin Westbrook, one of Mike’s teammates from the provincial team has taken notice of his play. “ Mike is one of the most improved players in the province. He takes the ball to the hoop strong and has slick handles for someone his height and size. He has the ability to finish strong in the lane and step out to knock down the mid range J.” Mike is averaging an impressive 22 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 assists per game. These Garnett like numbers are scary considering he only starting playing basketball competitively a year ago. “I didn’t play basketball at a high level until my grade 11 year, before that I basically would only play on my lunch hour.” This is a scary thought for opposing players and coaches.
Mike has the size and athleticism to make him a tough match-up for anyone who has to guard him in BC. “Mike was definitely our most improved player over the summer. He worked hard everyday at practice and his confidence grew more and more each day. Mike has always been a gifted athlete and he has a good feel for the game. During the summer he had some HUGE dunks that surprised everyone on the team. Once he found his role on the squad he really blossomed as our dark horse, doing all the little things that separated our team from being good to being great.” U-17 Assistant Coach Chad Clifford says about Hull. Mike has the personality on and off the court that brings a smile to the game. His game is smooth and fluid and he makes certain things look so easy.
Mike has a great approach to the game willing to work on his weakness’ to get better. “My personal goal is to improve my all around game but especially my outside game so I can play the wing at the next level. My team goals for the season are to lead my team to a repeat as Island Champions and lead them to the final 4 at the Agrodome. This is my senior year and I want to be able to enjoy my last year of High school basketball and make is as memorable as possible.”
Mt. Doug has competed against BC’s best and Mike and his teammates know that they can step on the floor and play with anyone. They have one goal in mind for this year and that is to get back to the Agrodome.
DRIVE would like to wish Mike and his Mt. Douglas teammates the best of luck this season.
