The Coaches

The DRIVE VARSITY ATHLETE program will include three highly-qualified Coaches who have a wealth of experience training young athletes. All three coaches also come from distinguished athletic backgrounds with high-level experience in Collegiate and Professional Sports.

Issac Payne

Isaac has been the Strength and Conditioning Coach for DRIVE Basketball since its inception in 2003.  He is now co-owner of DRIVE FITNESS and Head of the DRIVE FITNESS training team.  Isaac has over five years of experience working as a Personal Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach.  With a Bachelor's Degree in Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia, Isaac carries in depth knowledge with regards to exercise prescription, physiology, and athletic development.  As well, he is also certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist, an internationally recognized credential. Isaac is extremely passionate about fitness development and personal training, now with his own Fitness facility he is able to use his expertise in a variety of ways.

Pasha Bains

Pasha is the founder and Head Coach of DRIVE Basketball.  He is also now co-owner of DRIVE FITNESS along with Isaac Payne.  Pasha has over eight years of experience working and training with young athletes.  Pasha has an undergraduate degree in Psychology and English from Simon Fraser University and will soon Graduate with a Master's Degree in Human Kinetics (Sports Psychology/Coaching Science) from the University of British Columbia. With education and experience related to Coaching athletes, Pasha carries in depth knowledge with regards to Sports Psychology (motivation, adherence), physiology, athletic development and Coaching Science.  Pasha also has high-level athletic experience having played basketball at the Collegiate and International level. Pasha has a passion for coaching and teaching young athletes and is an excellent motivator.

Larry Thompson

Larry is an accomplished personal trainer with five years of experience training adult client as well as young athletes.  He has worked at 8 Rinks athletic center as a Fitness trainer as well as various other Fitness centers training young athletes. Larry is a Hall of Fame Wide Reciever from Solano College in California, he went on to a successful NFL and CFL career with the Seattle Seahawks and BC Lions. Larry has an enthusiasm for teaching young athletes that is evident in his teaching and coaching techniques.

The DRIVE VARSITY ATHLETE program is highly-specialized Personal Training program that combines various elements of Strength and Conditioning, Flexibility, Plyometric Training, Core-Strength, Agility, and Sport Specific training for athletes of all sports.

When

The DRIVE VARSITY ATHLETE program will run on Mondays, Wednesdays. and Fridays. Athletes will train in small groups of 4-6 for 60 minute sessions.  Training sessions will focus on various elements including athletic development, conditioning, and injury prevention. Sessions start at 5.30-6.30, 6.30-7.30, 7.30-8.30 & 8.30-9.30.

Where

The DRIVE VARSITY ATHLETE program will take place at DRIVE FITNESS, DRIVE's new athletic facility located at 7740 Alderbridge Way in Richmond. The facility itself is open for general memberships and personal training as well as the DRIVE VARSITY ATHLETE program. The spacious, state of the art facility includes:

 

Cost & Registration

Registration for The DRIVE VARSITY ATHLETE program is limited to a certain number of participants per session. Registration begins on January 23rd, 2007. The program will begin on Monday January 29th, 2007.
