SKILLS ACADEMY - Fall 09

DRIVE Basketball Academy is excited to announce the 3rd annual skills academy that will take place in the Tri-City area this fall. The program will take place on Saturdays beginning October 10th and will run for 11 weeks (10 sessions) until December 19th. This program will be available to all players in grade 3 to 7 that would like to take their game to the next level.
This developmental program will be led by DRIVE Head Coaches Pasha Bains and Chad Clifford.
Repetition is the key to basketball success. The DRIVE Skills Academy focuses on teaching and mastery of fundamentals & footwork.
The aim of the program is to develop a complete player. Training will focus on:
- fundamental skills & confidence
- decision making
- weak-hand development
- hand-eye-foot co-ordination
- ball-handling
- shooting mechanics
- defensive awareness
- strength & conditioning
- high intensity drills
- positive youth mentoring
- plus much more
This is a group training class that specializes in fundamental individual skill development and is customized for all skill levels and positions. It is for players who have some court experience and desire to go the next level of skill development. Curriculum includes a different lesson and skill per week with a 10 week progression.

If you are a member of the Tri-City Youth Basketball Association (TCYBA) you will receive a $25.00 discount to the DRIVE Skills Academy program.
All participants are expected to bring your own basketball and wear your TCYBA Uniform to receive your discount.

THE COACHES
The SKILLS ACADEMY will be led DRIVE Head Coaches Pasha Bains and Chad Clifford. Both Pasha and Chad have years of experience playing and coaching basketball.
Pasha is a former Canadian High School & University Player of the year. He recently completed a Master's Degree in Coaching Science from UBC. To read Pasha's complete career bio click here: Staff Page.

The SKILLS ACADEMY will include numerous Assistant and Player Coaches. Each DRIVE Staff member is either currently finishing a University or College degree program or has already completed a degree while playing Varsity basketball. The Assistants and Player Coaches will assist in the teaching of the curriculum with a emphasis on helping individual campers during group instruction.

THE CURRICULUM
DRIVE SKILLS ACADEMY includes:
- Quality instruction from highly experienced Coaches & Players with CIS, National Team & Division I experience.
- DRIVE Stations: Off/Def/Footwork/Ball Handling/Shooting/Passing
- DRIVE Ball Handling Wizardry: Learning over 100+ dribble moves and drills including two ball and tennis balls.
- Dynamic Warmup: Over 20+ active warmup drills.
- One on One Play & Tournaments.
- Complete Defense Circuit: Wing Denial, Help & Recover, Backdoor, Close-Out, Post Defense, Turn the Dribbler, Smash the Flash.
- DRIVE Transition games: 2 on 2, 3 on 3 and 4 on 4 in a high-speed format.
- DRIVE Finishing School: Learning 30+ ways to finish at the basket.
- Special situations: No Dribble,One-Two Dribble max, on ball/off ball screening.
- DRIVE Triple Attack Series: Learning 25+ ways to create space.
- Fitness Testing: Beep Test, Core & Strength Testing.
